The Place Between Tides

The Place Between Tides cover

A novella by B.S.Roberts

There are men who drown in water, and men who drown in memory.

After Eliza’s death, Hiram Batchelder is left with grief, routine, and the cold Maine sea that shaped his life. When he and his lifelong fishing partner, Emmett, are caught in a violent storm, Hiram awakens stranded on a barren island.

As the days blur together, strange signs mount. Shadows fall where they shouldn’t. Voices drift on the wind. Figures appear at the surf’s edge, then vanish with the mist. Though Emmett was stranded beside him, Hiram fears the storm had claimed his friend all the same. Increasingly, Emmett seems less like a man than an apparition—quiet, distant, and fading whenever Hiram tries to reach him.

The Place Between Tides is a literary ghost story about mourning, friendship, and what waits between holding on and letting go.
