Summer Court Writing Challenge Anthology
This anthology is the culmination of Nat 1 Publishing’s first Summer Court Writing Challenge. Of course, Summer Court was never supposed to happen. Winter Court was meant to be our annual “difficult” writing challenge—give writers a prompt, a handful of strange requirements, and a deadline, then see what happened. But people enjoyed it. More importantly, they wanted to do it again. So, rather than wait for winter to roll around, we decided to open the Court a little early.
Like Winter Court, this isn’t necessarily a collection of professional, polished stories. Some pieces are penned by published authors; others are crafted by people still finding their footing as writers. Most fall somewhere between those two ends of the spectrum. You may find rough edges here. You may find brilliance here. You will certainly find people taking chances, experimenting with ideas, and figuring out what can be done with a strange prompt and three out of five even stranger components. What you will not find is indifference. Every piece represents someone choosing to sit down, take up the challenge, and tell a story.
Whether you are one of the participants with one or more pieces in this anthology, someone returning after Winter Court, or somebody picking it up because the cover is pretty, we hope you enjoy Nat 1 Publishing’s first Summer Court anthology.
