Write, Wrong or Otherwise: Nat 1 Short Story Challenge

WRITE, Wrong or Otherwise: Nat 1 Short Story Challenge

This event will take place between August 11th and 17th.

Join the Nat 1 Publishing community in our first annual Write, Wrong or Otherwise short story challenge. This exciting event was designed to ignite creativity and collaboration amongst writers, inspiring participants to craft a complete short story within one week, with a deadline to foster a sense of urgency and focus that inspires innovative storytelling. Throughout the event, writers are encouraged not only to develop their own science fiction or fantasy short stories but to also support—and be supported֫—by their peers, offering constructive feedback and encouragement.

At the end of the week, Nat 1 Publishing’s team of editors will proofread and refine the submitted stories, ensuring they meet high standards of quality. The culmination of this effort will be an anthology that showcases the diverse voices and imaginative tales of the Nat 1 creative community who successfully complete the challenge. Write, Wrong or Otherwise is more than just a writing exercise; it’s an opportunity for writers to push their boundaries, connect with others, and see their work published in a professionally curated collection.

Those who sign up in advance and complete the short story challenge will receive a completion packet consisting of a free physical and digital copy of the publication, a mini Nat 1 Publishing bumper sticker, and a first annual 8.5”x11” Write, Wrong or Otherwise participant poster.

Be sure to register by August 5th to be eligible for the completion packet*! Miss the deadline? You can still have your story published and get a free digital copy!

*To be eligible for the completion packet, participants must both submit the registration form (link on Discord) between 7/22/2024 and 8/5/2024, and a completion form on the provided form (revealed on Discord 8/15/2024) between 8/16/2024 and 8/20/2024. Limited to one packet per individual. Completion packets will be mailed to recipients by the end of December 2024 via USPS; non-American participants may have a delay in delivery. While participation on Discord during the event week (8/11 – 8/17) is not necessary, it is highly recommended and an individual’s user handle must be a member of the Nat 1 Discord Channel. Individuals who submit stories without filling out a registration form will have their story included in the publication and will receive a free digital copy.
