Loran Cook was raised by hillbillies, received a good portion of his real-world education in an Irish pub, served onboard a submarine, and is an avid history enthusiast. He participates in medieval reenactment, specializing in the Viking age, enjoys good cigars and Irish whiskey (usually together), and is greatly amused by watching the ducks in his backyard do silly things. He lives with his gorgeous, supportive wife, their three children, two big goofy dogs, three cats, two goats, and a fluctuating number of birds in the deep, dark woods as a hermit and recluse.
